Was a lovely evening for the BYC beer can races in Newport Harbor.  Wind pretty much out of the west so most boats had to throw in a few tacks to make the weather mark.  Note:  Anyone looking for a good 55' mast, boom and Harken roller furling system let me know.  I'm helping a friend sell it. Pretty sure it was stepped on deck. Owner motivated to find it a new home ???  Double spreaders, may have been set up for in mast furling??  Boom set up for loose footed mainsail?  Pics and more specs to anyone interested.  Harken furling system appears excellent, foils hack sawed off so some adaption will be necessary...We stepped off the length so it's between 55 and 60 feet...

It was a great evening for the Balboa Yacht Club's Beer Can races on Thursday July 23rd.  The Cal-40 that started late and was the last boat around the mark is "Ralphie" owned by Davis Pillsbury of Newport Beach.  A few years  back there was a large fleet of Cal-40's in the Trans-Pac race. "Ralphie" was the overall winner of the Cal-40 class...

Several times this month men have cut up the dream yachts they were building and sold us all the hardware and parts. They foolishly purchased tens of thousands of dollars worth of parts, electronics sailing gear etc. years before their launching dates. In their case, that date never arrived.  The pictured electronics, auto pilot etc. are in new condition but have been sitting for probably 5 years?  The roller furling system has only been in storage for a year or two. New Surplus And Used Electronics...

Having a store next to Newport Harbor I get hundreds of good used electronics each year.  Usually I wholesale them off to guys that make a living selling on e-bay etc.  It seems that when a skipper purchases a local boat, the first thing he does is put aboard all new electronics and his used ones end up in my store.  Displayed are three items that I pulled out of the back room that perhaps you would be interested in?  We do not test these electronics, some may not be returned and some may.  It's a bit of a gamble on your part but the odds of winning a great buy are 1000% better then Vegas...ALL ITEMS LISTED ON THIS POST ARE SOLD

As you can see, everyone had a great time.  Lots of sellers went home with their pockets BULGING with CA$H.  Lot's of buyers got some pretty FANTASTIC buys.  Balboa Yacht Club sold every item they brought and I secretly think they went home with about 10K?  Tons of fishing gear, portlights, small generators, electronics...I'll shut up and let the pictures do the TALKING !!
