Here's a fun little video of my short visit to Santa Barbara Harbor, Santa Cruz Island-Santa Barbara Island and Catalina Island. You don't have to sail off to Tahiti to have fun and enjoy your boat. We had one night at Cabrillo Marina, one night at Paradise Cove, two nights in Ventura, three nights in Santa Barbara Harbor and short stays at Santa Cruz Island, Santa Barbara Island and Catalina. My boat is a Down East 38 that I purchased TOTALLY NEGLECTED in the back waters of Huntington Harbor. It's too bad Newport Beach can't be as boater friendly as the guys in Santa Barbara? You tie
up in front of their office, are assigned a guest slip for about a buck a foot a day, they give you a gate key that fits close-by immaculate restrooms with showers. Marine hardware store, restaurants, fuel dock and even a great museum are all nearby. If you want to go downtown, for 50 cents a little trolly car will take down the water front to State St. where you can transfer, head up the hill and see the
whole town... Hint for small sailboats going up the coast. Get early starts in the morning and motor sail to your next anchorage or marina before the westerlies kick up around 1 PM...
