Cape Horn to South Georgia Island

One year ago I boarded the Alaska Eagle in the worlds southernmost city of Ushuia and joined Brad Avery, Richard Crowe and eight other sailors to head out the Beagle Channel and see if we couldn't find South Georgia Island a thousand miles east of the Falklands. The island, which served as a whaling station a hundred years ago was made famous during Shackleton's expedition to the South pole where he accomplished the most ill-fated and daring maritime rescue of all time.

Join Brad Avery and I tonight at the Orange Coast College Sailing Center where we'll retell our tale and honor Ernie Shackleton tonight at 7 PM.

Ticket are $15 for singles/ $20 for couples and are available at the door or at Minney's.

Headed Round' the Horn

Been a busy January here at the store. I'm off tomorrow to join back up with the Alaska Eagle sailing out of Ushuia to South Georgia Island and on up to Buenos Aires. I'll be gone about 40 days, and if you'd like to follow the trip you can do so here.
