How can we do this and still keep the doors open?  Millionaires and billionaires donate their sails to colleges and non profits and reap huge tax benefits.  The non-profits approve of the way get these sails back aboard other yachts and that we buy sails in large volume and that our checks ALWAYS CA$H!! HELP WANTED ! Survival suit model to jump up and down on our street corner and attract customers ???

Our lovely staff member Maureen, models a survival suit and gets a little survival raft time in front of the store.  We get quite a few survival rafts that are way out of date.  We pop them open and sell them as is with absolutely no return.  Pictured is one of the better ones?  Survival suits are usually in new condition and we get a the most, $150.00.  Aluminum boarding stairs and platform is missing a few rail parts but is a good value at about $950.00.  Keefe windlass is estimated at 25 years old but is brand new right out of a packing crate.  A starting price of $3250.00 seems about right.  We've contacted Mr. Keefe of KKMI and thought perhaps he would like it for his coffee table?  Voltage is 36 volts D.C.  This is part of an estate sale of a VERY WEALTHY yacht owner.  The Kahlenberg air horns are a RARE FIND and we feel  the $1000.00 price, totally in line.  No compressor.  We have a great selection of new and used Sabot parts.  The fiberglass hulls start at $95.00.  We can usually put together a "sail away boat" for under $750.00.  The Sabots are 8 feet long and make excellent row boats.  The large capacity water maker is by Galley Maid.  We think as a parts unit some skipper will feel it's a great value at $95.00!  Have a great day and a special thank you from all of us at Minneys for making us #2 in the Newport Beach harbor area....   Ernie Minney

Kelpie is now the Kelpie of Falmouth and is getting a total rebuild in Falmouth, England.  Google "Kelpie of Falmouth" for rebuild pictures and info.  Shearwater is alive and well running day charters from a marina on Wall St.  I saw of glimpse of Shearwater in the background in one of the yacht scenes in the popular movie "American Hussle."

Farewell "ALASKA EAGLE"

Orange Coast College's S&S Alaska Eagle has been sold and left today for L.A. Harbor where she will be deck loaded on a freighter and shipped to the Netherlands. She was built there and was launched "Flyer" and was the overall winner of the Round The World Race about 35 years ago.  She has been the FLAGSHIP of OCC's sailing fleet and will be greatly missed.  My own son, Josh Minney crewed aboard her on her last major voyage which included rounding Cape Horn and a visit to South Georgia Island.......

MY PRO-ACTIVE CREW ...

We're having summer in January!!  The crew at Minneys is really getting pro-active when it comes to selling small boats.  We think the city of Costa Mesa FIRED the "enforcer" (the guy that busted us if we had anything outside the store with a price tag on it) and we are once again displaying Sabots, rubber boats, kayaks etc.  Yesterday we popped the CO2 bottle on a Beufort six man survival raft, it looked great and we sold it on a a NO RETURN basis for $195.00.  Almost a $2500.00 savings for the skipper that purchased it. P.S.  I spent some time aboard that Ericson 28.  Engine room, bilge and cabin sole areas are a bit of a project.  If someone waved a cashier's check for $7500.00 I think the Tres Amigas would have a hard time saying no.  JUST A HUNCH ?  The Universal diesel runs great but all systems could use a good going over....

I watched the interview of the owner and founder of Amazon.com last night on "60 MINUTES."  One thing that impressed me was when the founder of Amazon stated that his board of directors and others keep advising him to raise his prices.  He stated that his millions of customers TRUST him to have the lowest prices in the country even though his profit margin is in the basement on many of the items he sells. Modest prices have always been our mantra and I love it when customers tell me, "Ernie, if it wasn't for your store, I wouldn't be able to afford a boat!"
